The trip takes you into the heart of Yogyakarta; one of the foremost cultural centres of Java; where the Javanese language at its purest, the arts at their brightest and tradition at its most visible. Discover the main temples of Borobudur &Prambanan and artisan village that make Yogyakarta so fascinating.



Day 1: Yogyakarta - Magelang

Upon arrival at AdisuciptoAirport of Yogyakarta, you will be met then transferred to Magelang, around 40 kilometers northwest of Yogyakarta; known as the best launching pad to visit the magnificent Borobudur temple. If there is time, you’ll stop at Mendut Temple near Borobudur; a pyramid-shaped temple that houses three impressively carved stone statues of Budha

Day 2: Magelang

Spend the morning around the massive Buddhist Temple of Borobudur and discover the incredible history behind its construction.Comprised of thousands of volcanic and river stone blocks, the temple was assembled entirely by human labor and took more than 75 years to complete. These days, the UNESCO Heritage site is still visible in its full glory- with magnificent carvings and an unusual, yet surprisingly beautiful bulk structure. 

You’ll get a taste of local life with a horse cart ride through Candirejo village. Known as a dokar, the local horse cart will take you through this peaceful, charming village. We’ll travel along small lanes lined with traditional houses and stop to see village activities such as making cassava crackers, playing the gamelan and harvesting and drying of vanilla and chili.

Return to the hotel in the afternoon

Option 1: overnight at Rumah Dharma – Standard room

Day 3: Magelang - Yogyakarta

After breakfast, you’ll drive to Yogyakarta. Upon arrival; stroll around Malioboro Street followed by a visit to Sultan’s Palace; also known as Keraton. Built during 1756 – 1790, is a fine example of traditional Javanese sultanate architecture. As we walk through the various rooms and chambers, we learn more about this aspect of Javanese heritage and culture. 

Afterwards, you will explore Kota Gede, a charming village that still retains some of Central Java’s best examples of traditional Javanese architecture; and is known as the silver village due to the concentration of artisans. Here, you watch the making of Batik and silver handicraft.

In the afternoon, we visit the Prambanan temple, a 9th-century Hindu temple compound. This collection of sharp, jagged temples features three main inner shrines dedicated to the Hindu trinity: Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. 

In the evening you attend the Ramayana Ballet performance

Day 4: Departure

Morning is free at your leisure. At designated time, you’ll be picked up to be transferred to the airport to catch your onwards flight.
